Pebble Beach - We Biked the Entire Drive |
We rode the 17 mile scenic drive in Carmel on our bikes passing
the ocean splashing in all directions across black lava rocks - then magnificent estates, where visible, of stonework and
other fine masonry attached to sea cliffs, Cypress Trees, Redwoods, lush greens and meadows with brilliant flowers and driftwood
on display – such opulence – then a passing storm drenched us and our ride became a bit more laborious. We later
celebrated our journey at Fishermen’s Wharf with some world famous ‘chowda’ and other seafood delights.

Felton, Which is Near Santa Cruz |
With Good Friend Monique, Who We Knew From |
|
San Diego and Who Now Lives in Felton |
We visited our gutsy and
gracious friend Monique. She moved to Felton a few years ago from San
Diego without knowing anyone – following a ‘calling’
to move to this community. She instantly connected to the way of life here (Healthy Spiritual Earth Mother) and has created
a full life (and fulfilling we will add). Monique took us on a hike through a lush meadow and gigantic Redwood Trees to eventually
view Santa Cruz far below. She also brought us to Jose’s
Mexican restaurant for a scrumptious dinner while Bluegrass Music (a live band) played in the background. We stayed in Monique’s
quaint and so comfortable home in the country giving us a chance to all catch up ‘a bit’ and she also shared her
Spiritual literature favorites. We hope she didn’t get into any trouble when we unlatched the chain at the end of her
driveway. This road is blocked off – goes right to the main highway. Jim insisted on driving down it to save some time.

Who Now Live in Watsonville |
We visited our vibrant friends Karen and Charles in Watsonville - formerly from San Diego. Suzan had
enjoyed many years of power walks with Karen mainly at Mission Bay and could not pass through Central California without saying hello. Karen and Charles looked years younger – the Watsonville lifestyle definitely agrees with them. With
Karen’s daughter and all of her adorable grandchildren nearby – along with a welcoming Church community - they
assimilated fast into the area. We found their home beautifully decorated, full of warmth, color, positive energy and touches
of love (all those photos of their families). They treated us to a delicious brunch and a walk through their neighborhood.
We stopped at one home where Karen shared the following story. Two couples had lived next door to one another for 35 years
and were best friends. When one couple decided to move to this retirement area-the others followed so they once again live
next door to one another. One couple is in their 70’s and the one’s who followed – late 80’s. Never
too late to begin again!
