Beautiful Spring weekend in Vancouver. Walking along the water and biking in Stanley Park with hordes of other
people enjoying the first warm weekend in months.

We biked around Stanley Park on a beautiful sunny day although in the mid-50's. We learned that it can
go many months without a hint of sunshine here. Rain, rain, rain is the norm. No one was at home. People were out playing
rugby, running, biking, and sitting around or having picnics leaning against logs that are everywhere on beaches (to
protect from winds). There was even an acrobatic troupe practicing for a performance on the lawns near the beach. The
park was stunning with tulips abounding, Canadian Geese ambling about, spacious lakes, snowcapped mountains, and such
colorful, abundant foliage. So many people were about that our 7 mile bike ride took 1.5 hours. We realize life is continuing
to ask us to slow down a bit! Well worth it to take in all of the stunning sites!

We arrived in Vancouver with 2 backpacks, 2 suitcases each (1 small, 1 large) for cold and warm climates.
Jim had studied the maps and learned we could take the train from the airport to downtown. We got off the train at the station
that seemed closest to our hotel...and about 12-14 long blocks later (up and down hills on bumpy sidewalks) - we arrived!
We did save about $80.00 instead of taking taxi, so all worth it : ) Great news is thanks to all of Jim's Marriott stays
in Ohio preceding this journey, our first 2 nights at Marriott Residence Inn in Vancouver were free. They even upgraded us
to the 18th floor with a panoramic view of the city (and some glimpses of beautiful mountains through office buildings and
beyond cranes.
